BTS Jin, his style of being himself — "I want to make ARMY happy that makes me more happier"

Jin, a member of the global group BTS, is a rare person who attracts fans all over the world with his playful humor and beautiful singing voice. He approached his various charms of his solo career after serving in the military. What the new horizons that can be seen from his seven answers to seven questions and the story of his relaxed off-duty life in Hanok house?

Q. What is the difference in your consciousness when you work as a group member of BTS and working as a solo artist? What is the joy of working with your friends and what is the fun of accomplishing something on your own?

🐹 "When I'm working solo, I have to handle everything on my own, so while there's a lot of freedom to do what I want, it also makes me nervous. In group activities, even if I lack something, having the other with me is reassuring, and I feel like I can relax and work more comfortably."

Q. Jin, what does happiness or a treasure mean to you? What values or words do you hold dear in life? What do you think is necessary to achieve your dreams?

🐹 "The most important value in my life is to be 'happy'. And what makes me happy are all the ARMY (the name of BTS fans). So, my strongest feeling is that I want to make ARMY, who make me happy, even happier. In order for me to be happy, it's essential that I continue working for the ARMY (laughs)."

Q. What kind of person does Jin think is admirable? Is it important how that person lives or thinks?

🐹 "The kind of person I admire is someone who gives their best in their work. I've met people from many different fields, and they all showed me how proud and confident they are in what they do. I really envy that, and I want to be like that. I deeply respect that attitude."

Q. When do feel the most like 'yourself'? Also, what do you think are your strengths or qualities you like about yourself?

🐹 "I feel the most like myself when I'm making someone laugh. I really feel alive when someone smiles because of me. My strength? I think it's my face (laughs). Of course, there are plenty of people more handsome than me, but I like my face."

Q. Vogue Japan celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. When you turned 25 in 2016-2017, it was a time when you were globally recognized as an artist from Korea, featured of many charts and numerous awards. Looking back on yourself at 25, what is the most memorable event for you? Also, if you could advice to your youngest self, what would it be?

🐹 "When I was 25, I was so busy with work that there were times when I complained. I'd like to go back and firmly tell myself, 'you can't be like that'. But I feel like no matter what I said, it wouldn't have made much impact. As I've gotten older, I've naturally come to feel the way I do now. I'm sure that 10 years from now, my future self will also think I need to give my current self a good scolding (laughs)."

Q. You said before that you try to live your life to the fullest and not feel stressed, but is there any method or routine you set aside to keep your mental health and to enrich your work and private life? You have many hobbies, so I wonder if it is because of these hobbies that you are able to enrich your private time and work energetically. Are there any other hobbies/activities would you like to try in the future?

🐹 "Before, I used to get stressed a lot. But recently, no matter what happens, I've been able to let it go by saying, 'that happens', so I don't feel as stressed. Also, as time has passed, I've gradually gotten used to the place, so I think I've become more relaxed. Hobbies often help me relieve my stress, too. I won't know what I want to try in the future until more time has passed. All of my current hobbies are ones I've encountered through work by chance, so I think I'll find other hobbies as I live a little longer (laughs)."

Q. Where do you think Jin is currently standing in relation to his goals and dreams?

🐹 "My goal is for ARMY to be happy. As long as ARMYs are happy, I can work until I am completely exhausted. Right now, I am in the process of making that dream come true."
